About Bright, Victoria
Situated in Victoria, Bright is a charming town located approximately 321 kilometers away from Melbourne. If you opt for a car journey, the duration of your drive may vary between 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on the time of day you commence your travel.
We were traveling in our Caravan with family. The last time we went there was end of March 2021. This year we went a couple of weeks earlier earlier.

During our last trip, we went to Bright via the more popular route on Great Alpine Road. I highly recommend choosing this pathway for a truly delightful driving experience. We decided to take an alternative route, primarily due to its towing convenience, which significantly enhanced the smoothness of our journey.
Things to take considering the time of the year
In March, temperatures in Bright can range from the high 20s during the day to single digits at night. During our recent visit, we experienced single-digit temperatures at night, so it’s advisable to pack warm clothing. Accommodation prices in Bright fluctuate based on the season. If you’re visiting during peak times or long weekends, anticipate higher rates at camp sites.
Although there are free campgrounds near Bright, we decided to go for a powered site at a caravan park for a more convenient stay.

Food
- Our trip was for the long weekend between 11 March 2022 to 14 March 2022. We packed some uncooked vegetables and meat. We also carry an electric pressure cooker often on our trips. This makes the job of making meals much shorter and easier.
- We camped at a power site and cooked Breakfast and Dinner on the camp site. Lunch was mostly on the go depending on where we are at the time
